Ibericoat Liquid-Applied Roof Coating: Silicone & Acrylic Restoration System Specs

Published: 2026-06-22

Ibericoat is a European-manufactured liquid-applied roof restoration coating system available in silicone (high-solids, 97%) and acrylic (water-based) formulations. Silicone is preferred for standing water resistance and long-term UV performance (20-year expected life). Acrylic is preferred for sloped roofs where water does not pond and budget is constrained (10-15 year life). The key to successful coating: surface preparation. A power-washed, dry, primed surface with all failed seams repaired before coating application determines whether the coating lasts 5 years or 20 years. Ibericoat's 97% solids silicone means 97% of what you apply stays on the roof — not evaporating into the atmosphere like lower-solids competitors.

🛡️ Insurance & Compliance Advisory

Liquid-applied roof coatings are classified as 'roof restoration' not 'roof replacement' for insurance purposes — an important distinction. Restoration extends the existing roof's service life (typically 10-20 years) at $2-5/sq ft vs $8-12/sq ft for full tear-off and replacement. Insurance carriers generally DO NOT cover coating failures under the building policy unless the coating was part of a wind/hail repair specified by the adjuster. Document pre-coating inspection photos showing the existing roof condition — this is critical for future claims. If a coated roof leaks, the adjuster will ask: was the underlying roof sound when the coating was applied? Without documentation, the claim may be denied as 'pre-existing deterioration.'
